A Dream Becomes a Reality
Kandy – Former capital of Ceylon.
About ten years ago, a group of Sri Lankan American entrepreneur businessmen purchased a plot of land in Kandy, close to the beautiful and magnificent Mahaveli Ganga. At that time, they were contemplating a project but did not know what it was to be.
Since then, the main investors, Mahasen Samaravijaya and Mohan Chandramohan, who were both born and raised in the city of Kandy, came up with an idea of building something unique in appearance and environmentally acceptable that would complement the beauty that is Kandy. Thus, “The Dynasty” was born. A dream of a stunning 17 storey building.
They secured the services of RDC Architects – a top architectural firm in Singapore, and a world renowned construction company – Sanken Construction. With the vision and passion of these two individuals, the dream is now becoming a reality. This building will be the only one of its kind. It has a LEED certification – a globally accepted accreditation, which ensures the upholding of green building design and construction.
The first phase of the project consists of luxury apartments, up to five bedroom penthouse villas, with breathtaking views of the river, mountains and the city. The second phase is the addition of the second building, the Royal Palace Hotel, which is designed for 21 floors of luxury rooms and a rooftop restaurant with a 360 degree view.
Of the four principal partners in this project, Mahasen Samaravijaya will be overseeing the day to day running of the endeavor and as such has assumed the role of managing partner. Mohan Chandramohan, who is the largest shareholder will remain, for the most part a silent partner.
The objective of both Mahasen and Mohan is to do something worthwhile for their birthplace. While being a commercial project, it will also enhance the environs of Kandy, “the Land of Kings.”
